Autotune and high-flown trap sounds are used by a sizable portion of hip-hop artists these days, causing room for confusion. Canadian act Tory Lanez was met with a bit of it on Friday (Oct. 28) when his guest verse on a Meek Mill track was mistaken for Travis Scott.

“I can’t sound like somebody I wrote for…” Tory wrote as a defense on Twitter. Lanes shared with HotNewHipHop in 2014, he helped write Scott's verses on 'Brand New Choppas,' a single from T.I.'s Hustle Gang project. “I do a lot of writing and sometimes people don’t really know how much writing I do,” he said. “I did the latest s**t for Travis Scott and T.I., the ‘Brand New Choppas’ s**t, I wrote that.” He also mentioned penning tracks for Jeezy and August Alsina.

In case you didn't know, Travis Scott has already decided who he thinks will be named NBA's most valuable player this year. Last Friday (Jan 20), Travis Scott appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform his hit single 'Goosebumps.' The eccentric performer entered the stage with a lively illuminated backdrop which sketched out a virtual hype man in his likeness behind him in real time.
Before he even tried to pronounce the first lyric from the Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight song, the G.O.O.D Music rapper uttered 'James Harden M.V.P.' with a slight hint of autotune infused deep in his low-toned voice. Harden himself has yet to comment on Trav's opinion, but we're sure he's grateful either way.
