1964 Ludwig Hollywood kit recorded in a wooden studio. It’s a great sounding vintage drum kit recorded with great mics and preamps in a great sounding studio with a nice interface and state of the art scripting implementing innovative features. It’s really hard to get it better. All recorded with 6 velocity layers and 6 round robin, resulting in 36 samples per articulation. All samples normalized to 0db so when a velocity ramp is applied it results in 128 volume steps, which gives a very natural response from the keyboard or e-drum.
The TS-808 is a software emulation (VSTi plugin) of the Roland TR-808. The TR-808 service notes provide full schematics for each voice. I used them to make SPICE simulations of the circuits. I also analysed the best samples I could find (The Tape808, by Goldbaby), and tweaked the sounds until the waveforms and spectral content were as close as. On the main section you can choose between 2 snares (WFL Buddy Rich – Ludwig Super Sensitive), 2 kick beaters (Plastic – Felt) and 2 ride cymbals (Constantinople – Avedis). On the mixer section you can mix each microphone with purge/load, pan, volume and multioutput selector controls. On the effects section you can apply EQ, three types of compression and convolution reverb with 30 IRs to each channel independently. Set the volume, tune, envelope and mapping of each articulation separately. Velocity curve, microphone bleeding, and enhance the kick and snare with subharmonic content and filtered white noise.

KINETIC TREATS

sound design to create the soundtrack to our childhood imagination.

Each of the included instruments contains four sounds, each built from a toy source and a
complementary synthetic source (giving a total of eight sound sources in a single instrument).
