Traktor is Native Instruments’ laptop DJ software, and Traktor Pro 3 is the current version. It’s one of the first digital DJ apps, launching back in 2000. /pid-auto-tuning-methods.html. It’s gone through several iterations since then, most of which were in step with DJ controllers that Native Instruments put out including the Traktor Kontrol S4, the jogwheel-less Traktor Kontrol S8 and the new Traktor Kontrol S4 Mk3 with Haptic Drive kinetic jogwheels.
Hi All, I have Traktor running on 2 machines. An imac for home and Macbook for gigs. I play music through my itunes library and prepare all my tracks on the imac. I then export the playlist and import it into Traktor on my Macbook. There are all sorts of Traktor software like Traktor Pro 3, Traktor DJ 2 and Traktor Le 3. Meanwhile, a vast range of virtual instruments and effects like synths, sampled instruments, studio and creative effects, samplers and more are offered on Traktor for every DJ to arrange each track. You can mix on-the-go with all music resource on Spotify.
Rekordbox is Pioneer DJ’s laptop DJ app. It started life as a music management software for exporting playlists to thumb drives for use with CDJ media players, but has grown to become a full-on digital DJing app thanks to the Rekordbox DJ add-on. Though other DJ apps like Traktor, Virtual DJ and Serato have had a big head start, Rekordbox is quickly catching up in terms of functionality and stability, and is a popular choice thanks to its compatibility with Pioneer DJ’s controllers, media players and all-in-one systems.

Smart playlists – playlists that auto-fill with tracks based on a set of rules – are a great feature of both iTunes and other DJ software, but do not feature at all in Traktor Pro 2 natively.
But you can have custom auto playlists of a sort in Traktor. This means – for instance – that you can keep warm-up, main set and backroom tracks apart, and whenever you add new tracks to your library, as long as you tag them as such, the playlists will reflect that.
It takes a little bit of work, but it’s actually really easy – so watch the video to discover how to do it.
Hopefully Traktor Pro 3, when it arrives, will bring Traktor up to speed with other DJ software – but for now, here’s a stop gap trick for you.
